Sunrise in Venice

One of my best travel experiences is getting up early in the morning and watching the sunrise. It's a torture for me to wake up at 5 AM, but this is the only time when I'm actually looking forward to getting up. :-) I have seen many sunrises in various places - in fact, it's almost like a ritual that must be done in a newly visited location. But so far, besides the Grand Canyon, nothing could beat the sunrise in Venice.

The Doges Palace is stunning in the gentle sun rays.

Early in the morning, there are almost no people on the streets of Venice, except maybe some occasional tourist or photographers.

It's quiet around, and the only sound you hear is the gondolas swaying in the lagoon waters at the pier.

The sun begins to show up from behind the buildings.

Suddenly, everything around is illuminated with golden light.

Basilica di San Marco is worth getting up so early.

If you ever visit this incredibly interesting city, don't miss the sunrise. You surely will be rewarded. And, who knows, maybe it'll become your favorite experience too?
